For example, you could search “35617” to find all the content that Netflix had marked as Steamy Romantic Foreign Gay & Lesbian Movies. This applied to over 150 different filters (see our full list below!).

Unfortunately, the company has since simplified their algorithm and it’s no longer possible to trawl the immense list of ‘secret Netflix porn codes’ that went viral (thanks to lists like ours!). It’s not all doom and gloom though. There are still several useful shortcuts you can use… which we will explain below…

If you’re looking for erotic movies, or softcore titles without explicit pornography… there’s plenty of that to enjoy on Netflix.

But if you’re looking for truly X-rated adult entertainment, Netflix is a poor choice for watching porn. There are alternative adult streaming services that are much more likely to cater to your needs – like Adult Time (reviewed here).

While Netflix adheres to strict content guidelines and bans outright porn, that’s not to say you can’t find a ton of erotic movies, or films with sex scenes, or even full nudity.

You just need to know where to look.

Which, unfortunately, is not as easy as it used to be!

Why Netflix Category Codes Were Great For Finding Adult Content

Before Netflix introduced more sophisticated content filtering and personalization features, users could access specific content categories through numerical codes, which were also known as “secret codes” or “category codes.”

These codes were not explicitly advertised by Netflix but became popular among users (and sites like ours!) who wanted to discover specific genres and subgenres.

It was, after all, the closest thing to a filter for Netflix porn.

To access content with these codes, users would modify the Netflix URL with a specific numerical code that corresponded to a particular category. For instance, the URL structure would look like this:

http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/####

In the URL above, ‘####’ would be replaced with the numerical code for the desired category. For adult content, there were several subcategories, each with its own numerical code. Some examples include:

1. Erotic Thrillers (972)
2. Steamy Romantic Movies (35800)
3. Steamy Independent Movies (9916)

These codes enabled users to access specific content more easily by bypassing Netflix’s standard content discovery process.

However, as Netflix improved its content filtering and recommendation algorithms, these codes became less relevant. The platform now offers more advanced content filtering options, parental controls, and personalized recommendations, making it easier for users to find and manage the content they wish to watch.

That’s the theory, anyway!

We miss the good old days. We miss searching the number of a random adult-themed channel and flicking through the hottest Netflix content in one space.

How Does Netflix Filter Adult Content Today?

While it’s no longer possible to browse through a thriving list of 158 adult sub-genres, it’s still possible to whittle down the Netflix library to the best XXX material.

Problem is: the new tagging system is not particularly revealing.

List of Original Netflix Porn Codes

Netflix still has plenty of adult content… of the softcore and erotic variety.

Previously, most of it was conveniently grouped together in that typically ‘Netflix’ way of sub-genres. This was done by a specific numerical code. We had collected over 158 of these codes, and they were brilliant for viewing adult movies.

So, whilst physically typing the words ‘steamy’, ‘raunchy’ or ‘erotic’ would only deliver you with a small set of results, the codes below would deliver you a lot more.

To access the movies, you would just use the URL prefix https://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/ and then add the relevant code to find out which titles were available in your location.

Some genres would be empty, others would have dozens of titles. It all depended on where you are based and what titles Netflix had chosen to make available to your country.

Unfortunately, as we mentioned above, Netflix has since adjusted its coding system. Many of these categories will now produce zero results. The hidden collection of semi-porno gems are much harder to find than they used to be.

Don’t forget to include the foreign language subcategories as you can use subtitles if you want to follow the plots:

Of course, the best part of Netflix is that, once you start watching a specific genre of film then it will keep on making suggestions for you based on what you’ve already seen.

For that reason, it’s a good idea to create a separate user account to watch these titles from if you share your viewing with anyone else!

An ‘Art-House’, ‘Steamy’ and ‘LGBTQ’ movie, this romantic Canadian film focuses on a passionate love affair between two women.

One, a fashion editor, is engaged to a man and the other is a roofer working on the neighbors house. It was filmed by an all-female crew and directed by April Mullen so it is should be a wholly accurate reflection of what women want and what women do to get their rocks off.
